Weddings, Funerals & Baptisms
Weddings
Any man and woman sincere in a commitment to the establishment of a Christian marriage and willing to conform to the standards of the Episcopal Church may be married in Christ Church, provided that at least one of the couple is a baptized Christian, a member of the Episcopal Church, and a member of Christ Church. No wedding may be scheduled until the engaged couple meets with the officiating priest, completes the necessary forms and pays the required fees, so the wise couple will complete those things before booking the reception venue. Complete information about weddings is available in the publication “Christian Weddings at Christ Church Parish, Pensacola, Florida,” which is available from the parish office.
Hospitalization and Illness
Sometimes our local hospitals will notify us when you have been admitted, and sometimes they don’t. If possible, please notify the parish office yourself before entering the hospital, and when that is not possible, have a friend or relative give the parish office a call.
Funerals
We strongly encourage members of the parish to make their funeral arrangements in advance. This information is kept on file in our office. All information is confidential. Funerals are scheduled through the parish office, with one of the clergy assisting with the arrangements. Complete information and a guide to making funeral plans are included in the publication “Christian Burial at Christ Church Parish,” available in the parish office.
Columbarium
Members may choose to have their ashes interred in the Columbarium in the Chapel of the Beloved Son. Information about acquiring niches is available in the parish office, in the publication “Cremation and Christian Burial in the Columbarium of Christ Church.” Niches are available for purchase only for members of the parish and their families. Contact Kelly Heindl in the parish office.
Baptisms
The Sacrament of Holy Baptism is scheduled by contacting the parish secretary, who will gather the needed information and forward it to the clergy, who will set a date and time. The prayer book “norm” is for baptisms to take place at the Sunday Eucharist four times a year (The Feast of the Baptism of Christ in January, Easter, Pentecost, and All Saints’ Sunday). At Christ Church we also schedule them at other times throughout the year.
