The Ten Commandments: Our Duty to God and to Neighbor, led by the Rev’d C. Neal Goldsborough
Wednesday evening schedule: Holy Eucharist in the Chapel at 5:15
Covered-dish Supper at 5:45 p.m. in the Parish Hall
Supper information for March 10: If your name begins with A-E, bring a vegetable; F-N, a main dish; O-Z a salad.. Please bring a dish several times your own needs. Bread, dessert, and coffee and tea are provided.
Adult classes from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Parish Hall
Please bring your own Book of Common Prayer with you for Fr. Neal’s class. There will be a cart in the Parish Hall with a limited number of BCP’s to use and to be returned at the end of his class.
CLASS SCHEDULE:
February 24: History and Meaning: Why these “Ten Pretty Good Rules” are essential to us as Christians.
March 3: Duty to God: Commandments I-IV (No other gods; no idols; no Name of the Lord in vain; remember the Sabbath day and keep it holy)
March 10: Duty to Neighbor: Commandments V (Honor your father and mother) and VI (You shall not commit murder)
March 17: Duty to Neighbor: Commandments VII (You shall not commit adultery) and VIII (You shall not steal)
March 24: Duty to Neighbor: Commandments IX (You shall not be a false witness) and X (You shall not covet anything that belongs to your neighbor)
Programs for Youth and Children
Come enjoy food, fun and fellowship as we explore the Ten Commandments on Wednesday evenings in Lent.
Ten Commandments for Youth and Kids (Exodus 20:1-17) – Youth and Children will be dismissed at 6:30 and return to the Parish Hall by 7:30. We will be covering the same Commandments each week as Fr. Neal. Youth and Children’s Programs will include age appropriate lessons, discussions, power-points, movie clips, games, skits and crafts. Youth will go to the Undercroft under Deacon Tim’s direction along with other adult volunteers and children will follow Ms. Jenni and Ms. Kerry to the Children’s Chapel in the Christian Ed./Music Building. We will walk the children/youths back to the Parish Hall by 7:30pm.
February 24: History and Meaning: Why Did God Give Us So Many Rules?
March 3: Commandments I-IV (Have no other gods but God, Do not worship statues, Be careful with God’s name, Keep the Sabbath day special)
March 10: Commandments V (Honor your father and mother) and VI (Honor life)
March 17: Commandments VII (Keep your marriage promises) and VIII (Do not steal)
March 24: Commandments IX ( Do not lie) and X (Do not want what belongs to your neighbor)
