Community Outreach Breakfast

Christ Church/Greater Union Baptist Community Outreach Breakfast

Many of you remember that, a few years back, we were feeding some of Pensacola’s homeless population here at Christ Church on Sunday mornings. You may not know that this ministry lives on, in a partnership between Christ Church and Greater Union Baptist Church on Guillemard Street.

Every Sunday morning, volunteers from Christ Church join volunteers from Greater Union Baptist Church to provide a full delicious breakfast for our community’s homeless population. Most Sundays we serve at least 100 people, men, women and children.

Greater Union provides a wonderful space, kitchen, fantastic cook, Billy Gillard, inspiring ministry by Tyler, “the boss”, and the Rev. Calvin Walker, Outreach Minister, and lots of great volunteers, some from the homeless population. Christ Church provides some of the food and volunteers who serve the food and make takeaway snack bags.

This rewarding ministry is headed by Ray and Hilda Jones who shop for the food and store it at Greater Union and who coordinate the volunteers. It is an excellent way to show your Christian love to our fellow man and the ultimate benefit is that it is more of a blessing to those of us who volunteer than it is for those we help. More volunteers are always needed and appreciated. To get more information or to volunteer, please contact Hilda Jones (“Contact Us”).
